What is the talk about?

As a profession, one of our most important motivations is that we want products to get better. But even when our recommendations are welcomed and apparently highly valued, they often aren’t acted upon—especially, it seems, when the problems involved are serious.

This talk offers reasons why this happens, and suggests what we can do to improve our track record.

About Caroline Jarrett

Caroline Jarrett (User Experience and Usability Consultant at Effortmark Ltd) works mostly with the Open University. She is a co-author of the textbook “User interface design and evaluation” and of “Forms that work: Designing web forms for usability”. She is currently working on a book on surveys, to be published by Rosenfeld Media later this year.

What is UX Oxford?

Bunnyfoot, along with White October, sponsor UX Oxford to help spread the UX (User Experience) bug around Oxford. UX Oxford provides a platform to share the knowledge of the UX community in and around the city of Oxford. Through a series of guest speakers, workshops and discussions we aim to cover the entire spectrum of UX, ranging from web sites, mobile devices, physical products, and just about anything that can be used.

In a nutshell: “If you use it, we’ve got an opinion about it!”
