11 Bunnies (if you count Peregrin, or more like if Peregrin includes us!)
10 hours (half that if you run, according to last year’s winners. Gulp)
9 individual fundraising activities planned (mmmm, bake sale)
8 weeks to go (that’s £375 a week needed to hit target)
7 corporate sponsorships needed (get your name on our tshirts for £50!)
6 more than 20 miles to cover (that’s a marathon!)
5 hundred pounds raised so far (help!)
4 th September (not long now)
3 activities to conquer (hiking, biking and canoeing)
2 thousand pounds per office target (we only need 3k to enter, but we want to raise more!)
1 day to do it all in
0 chance of backing out now

So I think you’ve got the idea that we will be taking part in the CARE New Media Adventure Challenge (www.carechallenge.org.uk/newmediachallenge) and are REALLY hoping for some lovely generous donations (http://original.justgiving.com/bunnyfoot ) to make this grueling task worth our while!
We’re doing it because we think CARE international are a fantastic cause. They don’t just throw money at world’s poorest countries, they support them to help themselves to reduce long term dependency as well as supporting them in times of crisis if things go wrong. Check out their website www.careinternational.org.uk to see all the good work they do.

So, do you know these intrepid adventurers? Have they wronged you in such a way you would pay to see them suffer? Maybe they have done a great job for you in the past and you want to show support? Maybe you have no idea who they are but think they are a bloody good bunch of chaps for taking this on!

Northern team: Sarah Ronald, Rhys Nealon, Kevin White, Neil Collman

Southern team: Nick Antram, Thom Blake, Poppy James, Aaron Young, Josie Downey, Eleanor Holmes

“It’s just a little bit of pain compared to what some people have to suffer every day and have no choice in the matter” - Eleanor Holmes

“£2 is all you have to give. That’s nothing to us, but think about what a massive difference it could make to a child in poverty” - Josie Downey

“ Excellent cause, tough challenge, absolute lunatics… please put a tenner in the lunatics hat* (*justgiving page) if you haven’t got a tenner, £2 will certanily do, if you havent got £2 then this cause will probably help you” - Poppy James

“What? When did I agree to do this? What do you mean I can’t back out now?!” - Thom Blake

Jon Dodd and Rob Stevens were proud to have their hard work rewarded after beating off stiff competition in the Oxford Innovation Awards. There’s such a great wealth of innovation in the area with all the activity produced from the outstanding universities in the area, it was a total honour to come top out of the 43 entrants.

Jon and Rob started the company over 10 years ago and have always stayed at the forefront of research methods and technological innovation to continue to offer outstanding results in User Centred Design.

The award came in perfect time for the Bunnyfoot training day, when the 5 offices came together in Oxford to celebrate our achievements, share knowledge and get to know all the new faces that have joined recently.

It feels like every time I turn around there’s a new member of staff and we’re still looking for more (a senior information architect and a digital project manager)! Find out about who’s joined, who’s moved and who we are looking for here.

It’s been a long time since we have updated our “people” profile on the website - and yes, it is in the pipeline! So here’s just a little overview of what’s going on people-wise in the offices:

London:

Tobias Engel has moved down from our Edinburgh office to join our London team. His colleagues (all female) are doing a marvelous job of looking after him by giving him all the manly DIY jobs they have been storing up.

Oxford - our HQ:

Nothing looks the same here! We have completely blitzed the place and painted it beautiful shades of purple and white - it is now no longer the poor cousin to our other 4 offices. We’ve added offices as we were bursting at the seams and have all-new client spaces (testing lab, meeting and focus group rooms) and a dedicated project room with floor to ceiling white board walls for designing and concepting (or just scribbling) on. The team has been boosted over the last 12 months with a lot of new talent and you can feel a definite buzz of excitement in the air as they bring in new methods and ideas. The hunt is also on for a new Project Manager and an Senior Information Architect to join the team.

Reading:

Reading have also had a touch of the 60 minute makeover madness! Keith “Llewlyn Bowen” Philips has decided to ban white walls and go for an all more fresh and exciting feel to our mass user testing facilities. Sasha is back as part of the team (she couldn’t stay away!) and they are recruiting for a Usability Consultant.

Sheffield:

Their offices were pretty enough AND they had a helter skelter so they are not allowed to play the “office refurbishment game”. Apart from sending Jamie Wales ‘Oooop North’ (this is the punishment for not making enough tea in Oxford) they already had the perfect team.

Edinburgh:

Tobias moving south must have left such a gaping void that TWO new consultants were hired to replace him - welcome Dr Alexa Matthews and Wojtek Kutyla to the team.

Want to join our team?

We have 3 Vacancies

Reading: Looking for an experienced Usability Consultant to work in central Reading

Oxford (potentially London): Looking for an experienced Project Manager and Information architect / interaction designer.

Please send your CVs to people@bunnyfoot.com and place the job title you are applying for in the subject heading.

Taking opposite sides of the argument will be Kara Pernice, Managing Director of Nielsen Norman Group, debating why you do not need to use eye-tracking for web usability studies, and Robert Stevens, Co-founder of Bunnyfoot telling us why you absolutely positively must.

The event promises to be lively and informative and there will be a vote at the end. Make sure you come along and hear the compelling arguments as well as have your say at the end!

I’m really looking forward to opening in to our new office at Electric Works in Sheffield on Monday 2 nd March 09.

‘Sheffield?!’ I can almost hear you say,’ The grim Yorkshire city where they set The Full Monty?’. Yes the very same one and it’s come a long way since the coal mines and steel industry closed down for good; Sheffield has successfully reinvented itself a digital hub with a future the traditional industries could have never provided.

Sheffield has however not lost its love for Steel as can be seen by our new slide in reception ; )

Its 87 foot long, dropping 40 foot in less than seven seconds. Now that is an entrance!

I toured the building when the slide was being put in with Toby Hyam the MD of the management company and found out how much it cost, no I won’t tell. But I did note that we could have had a really, very fancy all whistles and bells video conferencing system instead of a slide.

And that as we have offices in London, Edinburgh, Oxford, Reading and now Hong Kong that a really fancy video conferencing system may be more useful. But it wouldn’t make you smile like the slide does!
